If you’re a fan of Transformers it’s been a while since you’ve have a game to play. After the absolutely fantastic Cybertron games on the Xbox 360, the franchise has largely disappeared from the gaming space beyond the odd movie tie in. Now, Bandai Namco and Outright Games are teaming up for bring us our first original Transformers game in some time, revealing the first looks at Transformers: Battlegrounds gameplay.

A tactical game similar in style to Fire Emblem or XCOM, Transformers: Battlegrounds is a new take on the Transformers IP. Previously, while we knew Transformers: Battlegrounds would involve tactical combat, we hadn’t seen any gameplay footage and didn’t know just how that would work. Now, through the released footage, we can see the game will be a turn based tactical game, complete with cover system and special abilities. We still don’t know much about the story or the trappings outside of combat, but we at least have a rough idea on how combat should would.

Alongside the gameplay reveal, it was also confirmed that the game would receive a Deluxe Edition containing four Autobot skin packs and an exclusive arcade mode, Cube, which sees players face off to keep control the cube across four different arenas

Transformers: Battlegrounds releases for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 23rd. For more information, check out the official website.
