Tim Shafer Is Coming To Melbourne

March 28, 2012

Ever wanted to see Tim Shafer up close and in person? Well, as reported by MCV Pacific, the Double Fine Productions founder (also known as the man who raised over $3 million on Kickstarter) is coming to Melbourne in June. Why, you ask? He’s heading down to the Game Masters Exhibition which will be run by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI). He’ll be giving a speech about various topics, including the role of auteurs in game development.

The exhibition will run from the 28th of June through to the 28th of October, and will also be showcasing the work of gaming legends like Toru Iwatani (Pac-Man), Ed Logg (Asteroids), Tomohiro Nishikado (Space Invaders), Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Child of Eden), Yuji Naka (Sonic the Hedgehog), Fumito Ueda (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus) and Will Wright (SimCity, The Sims). There will be over 125 playable games available to the public during the exhibition’s run. The ACMI have released a short video containing part of an interview that they hosted with Shafer:
