Wow, it’s been a big weekend. While we’re all recovering from Agar fever, we’ve got a Steam sale (my wallet is running in terror as we speak) AVCon and EVO 2013. Madness!

  • The Steam sale rolls right on today, with Tomb Raider and Borderlands 2 both going for less than $20 right now. Other bargains include Telltale’s The Walking Dead for $6.24, and The Witcher 2 for $4.99. Don’t forget that many recent games are supporting Steam’s trading card system now too, so go and grab those cards!
  • Ralph Baer is the man often credited with inventing the video game console. His development of the Magnavox Odyssey kicked off an industry that would, 40 years later, be the largest entertainment industry in the world. Ars Technica has an interview with the man, in which he discusses his natural inclination to invent, and how he created the Odyssey in the first place.
  • Capcom have announced a major update to Super Streetfighter IV at EVO 2013. The update, which will work with both the original SSFIV and Arcade Edition, features five new fighters and six new stages. The new fighters are Rolento, Elena, Poison and Hugo, as well as an as-yet-unannounced fighter who will be new to the series. The update will be $15 and a release has not yet been announced.
  • After undergoing a major corporate reshuffle during the week (well, over the next six months, anyway), Microsoft have acknowledged that they’ve had a communications problem with their customers when it comes to the XBox One. Incoming XBox Chief Product Officer Marc Whitten says that the company needs to work harder to get its message out to the public in the coming months prior to the system’s launch.
  • Free-to-play shooter Tribes Ascend is no longer under development. While the game continues to run, and you can still play it, developer Hi Rez Studios have moved on to their upcoming project, Smite, and have said that a sequel to TA is more likely than future updates to the game itself.

This week’s image is, of course, Cammy from Street Fighter 4, because everyone loves Cammy.
