The Sixth Professor Layton Game Will Be His Last

Sadly, it seems that Professor Layton’s time is up. During a recent Nintendo Direct presentation, Level-5’s CEO Akihiro Hino announced the sixth game in the series, which will be released for the Nintendo 3DS. Called Professor Layton and the Legacy of the Super Civilization A, the game will also be the last to star Layton as the protagonist. Hino didn’t say exactly what this means for the series, or how it will affect future titles. Perhaps his partner, Luke, will be given the leading role in future? Hino also revealed the first trailer for the sixth game, which you can view (along with the announcement) below:

Professor Layton and the Legacy of the Super Civilization A will be released in Japan in 2013. In news that’s a little closer to home, the fifth game in the series, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask will be released for Nintendo 3DS in PAL territories at the end of October.
