Karaoke Opening Trailer released for Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido

If you’re a die-hard anime fan with a love for sushi, prepare yourself: Nintendo has just released a new trailer for Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido on Switch and 3DS. This fun filled, action-puzzle game was announced last year at E3 2017, and the new trailer goes a long way to showcasing some of the colourful Japanese weirdness that the title promises.

The video features the opening to Sushi Striker, with karaoke lyrics translating its Japanese main theme for all of us Westerners. That said, even without the translation you’d be able to gather there will be a fair few ‘chances’ and ‘bounces’ to be enjoyed in the game.

In the world of Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido, the sinister Empire holds dominion, controlling the consumption of sushi with an iron grip, and denying it entirely to the inhabitants of the vanquished Republic.  As the story begins, our orphaned hero Musashi (playable as either a male or a female avatar) sets off from a small village in the Republic with an empty stomach but a head full of dreams – dreams of a world in which people are free from hunger and everyone can enjoy the deliciousness of sushi. An encounter with a wandering warrior known as a Sushi Striker opens Musashi’s eyes to a wider world, and sets the wheels in motion for a grand adventure.”

Nintendo also says that players should be prepared to meet a ‘colourful cast of characters’ as they move through the game. From the valiant protagonist Musashi to the local bully  Kojiro through to Imperial enforcer General Kodiak. There’s even a beautiful sushi assassin called Celia! But be careful, as players will be confronted with battles against other warriors, both in single-player and the Nintendo Switch’s multiplayer mode, that lets you pass a Joy-Con to a friend for duels.  Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido will be released on 8 June, 2018.
