Michael Bay’s Duke Nukem Movie Starring John Cena?

January 23, 2018

Reports are coming in today that a Duke Nukem movie is in the works, and WWE Superstar John Cena may be in negotiations to play Duke Nukem himself.

The movie, which is being made by Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes, currently has no official director or writer, however John Cena is no stranger to Hollywood, having starred in recent movies such as Daddy’s Home (and the sequel) and Trainwreck, as well as some WWE produced feature films such as The Marine and 12 Rounds.

Cena became the face that runs the place in WWE professional wrestling, carrying the business on his shoulders for almost a decade after the departure of stars such as Stone Cold Steve Austin and now Hollywood action hero Dwayne The Rock Johnson.

Duke Nukem Forever, a game which had a tumultuous development cycle, sporting the same acronym as Did Not Finish, and then once finally launching was received horribly by critics and fans alike, quickly finding its way to the bottom of bargain bins, has clearly caused the franchise to go in to crisis mode and consider how to best reboot it. A feature film starring a household name could be a solid formula, and with Michael Bay’s history of over-the-top action, we are cautiously optimistic about what this Duke Nukem movie could become.
