As Joseph discussed in his Gamer’s Guide to Gift Shopping yesterday, buying gifts for someone that can play games can be extremely daunting if you don’t play them yourself, or even if you do. Gamers normally buy the games they want for themselves, leaving those around them with few options and ideas on what to buy.
Normally you need to resort to picking games from a certain genre, but even then there are a myriad of different options. The point of the guide below is to give you a range of options within different genres to pick from. It’s by no means exhaustive and only includes games that can be purchased in a store and are easily giftable, but it will give you an idea of some of the better games that released this year and help remove some of the stress in buying a gaming gift. If you feel like jumping online to skip the queues, don’t just stick to the websites of brick and mortar stores you already know. Give places like Dungeon Crawl, an Australian online games retailer, a look as they tend to have some pretty good prices.
In addition to the Playstation games listed below, if you have a larger budget I would suggest also looking into a Playstation VR Headset (make sure to pick up the needed Playstation Move Controllers and Playstation Camera as well) to give your giftee some fun VR times or maybe pick up a Playstation 4 Pro to give them a bit more oomph in horsepower.
