While Nintendo’s local Nintendo Direct broadcast, had several juicy details about upcoming Nintendo 3DS and Wii U releases, Japan’s Nintendo Direct  held a special surprise in the announcement of a new Ace Attorney game, that will be ‘completely different’ from past entries.

Series creator Shu Takumi has been confirmed to return to head up the new sequel, after taking a break from the series with the under-appreciated Ghost Trick and dabbling in another franchise’s characters with the upcoming Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

What we still really want to know is if the three-year-old Ace Attorney Investigations 2 will see a Western release before the next game comes out. It can’t be too much of an ask, with the Ace Attorney series performing reasonably well these days, right?
