Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Deep Dive Trailer Explains More

October 15, 2020

The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Deep Dive trailer is here, giving us a seven minute glimpse of what to expect when Ubisoft’s cross-gen multi-platform viking assassin game launches in a little less than a month.

The trailer details what to expect when you start your journey in Valhalla, and then takes a deep dive into character upgrades, customisations, friends, enemies, weapons, kingdoms, and some of the unique gameplay experiences that you will get to play.

In the midst of the trailer we caught a glimpse at yet another map of 9th century England, this time displaying the four kingdoms with clear boundaries. While we knew Wales and Cornwall weren’t going to be included, this map shows the south east corner of Britain as a different area that’s possibly not explorable. This area is Kent, and includes places like Canterbury and Dover that were very active in this period, as well as views to Frankia.

The most interesting part of this particular map however is how far north Northumbria stretches. It actually covers the eastern marches of Scotland, i.e. Lothian, Dunbar and yes, Edinburgh. Now for those unfamiliar with Edinburgh, the hill just south of it called Arthur’s Seat had a viking settlement on it, and we also now know that King Arthur and his lore will be included in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Lastly, this trailer mentions that we will be traveling not just to England and Norway but also to Valhalla, so we’re expecting three unique maps of varying sizes. After Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we have no idea how large their version of Valhalla will be but if it’s as big as all three parts of The Fate of Atlantis then it should satisfy. We also hope Norway is just a vast wilderness to explore and hunt, like the top part of the map in Odyssey, or the desert in Origins. While we’re at it Ubisoft, can we get a couple of Helix Rifts in London that take us to a Jacob & Evie Frye Assassin’s Creed Syndicate story mission? Maybe a Watch Dogs Legion tie-in?
