Turn 10 Says No More Forza Loot Crates

July 27, 2018

In what comes as somewhat not surprising news, today Turn 10 has revealed via an official blog post that there will be no more Forza loot crates in any of the Forza Motorsport or Forza Horizon games. Turn 10 received some serious backlash from its fans when Forza Horizon 7 launched, first because the VIP bonus credits reward turned out to be mods that expired, and secondly because the game had somewhat of a pay-to-win format with loot crates gifting lucky players Forza Edition cars which potentially have benefits that give you an advantage over other racers.

In the July update, Turn 10 removed the Forza loot crates that gave vehicle rewards, but kept the ones that give driver outfits and modifications. Now Turn 10 plans to remove the crates from the game entirely by the end of the year.

It is unclear though how Turn 10 plans to let us purchase driver gear and modifications, or whether they are looking at a new way to reward players with those items. Currently driver gear can be unlocked by leveling up, but the only way to get modifications is via the Forza loot crates, which usually you could make credits from quite easily.

Forza Horizon 4 will not have any loot crates from day 1 according to Turn 10, and players can instead unlock different items in the game through the normal leveling system, the shop, auction house, or the new and improved Forzathon store.
