Yooka-Laylee To Support Xbox Play Anywhere ‘Soon’

April 9, 2017

With only two days to go before Yooka-Laylee, a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie which Joseph quite liked, Microsoft have quietly announced that the game will ‘soon’ support their Xbox Play Anywhere program. What this means is that if you buy the game digitally on Xbox One or the Windows 10 Store, you will get the equivalent other copy for free on release.

The announcement was quietly made in the latest ‘Next Week on Xbox’ article on their official news site, with an additional line of ‘Xbox Play Anywhere Support Coming Soon’. The reason it seems to have been kept quiet, it would look like Yooka-Laylee isn’t currently listed on the Windows 10 Store for preorder and potentially won’t be there at launch. This means that when it unlocks on the Windows 10 Store, purchasers of the Xbox One copy will receive a free unlock of the Windows 10 version.

Yooka-Laylee releases for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 11th.
