Major Nelson has announced the Xbox Live Games with Gold freebies for May 2016.

For the Xbox One platform, players can look forward to Defense Grid 2 and Costume Quest 2. Defense Grid 2 is a sci-fi tower defense strategy title where players must stop aliens from taking power cores. Players can build several different tower types including flamethrowers, lasers and even towers that shoot meteors.

Costume Quest 2 is an action role playing game which stars fraternal twins Wren and Reynold, and their friends. Together they must stop an evil dentist called Dr. Orel White (we’re guessing Professor Colgate was trademarked) who wants to rid the world of Halloween forever. Much like the first game, when the children enter a battle they will turn into more realistic versions of their costumes.

For the Xbox 360 platform, gamers are treated to the likes of Grid 2 and Peggle. Grid 2 is a racing game that falls somewhere in between arcade and simulation styles – it has an emphasis on being a fun and fast-paced experience but gives players a bit more control over their vehicle than a typical arcade racer. Track locations include Portugal, Britain, Austria and the USA.

If you haven’t played Peggle by now then make this you’re number one priority. Peggle is a fun puzzle game where your main objective is to hit all the orange “pegs” with a ball. Accompanying you is a Peggle Master who can unleash whimsical powers to assist you. Some Masters include Bjorn, a unicorn who unlocks a Super Guide power; Jimmy Lightning, a beaver that gives you Multiballs; and Master Hu, an owl who has a Zen Ball ability that will slightly adjust your shots for a higher score.
