2K Reveals WWE 2K20 Developer is Visual Concepts

Today in an announcement from the VGC, 2K Games has revealed that the WWE 2K20 developer is Visual Concepts, not long-running primary developer Yuke’s. Yuke’s has been making WWE games for 20 years since 2000’s WWF SmackDown! for publisher THQ, so it comes as a bit of a surprise when this year’s WWE 2K20 collectors edition is the SmackDown! 20th Anniversary edition.

The news comes off the back of Yuke’s revealing earlier in the year that they are working on a different wrestling game internally, possibly for up and comin rival entertainmant business All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

WWE 2K20 was officially unveiled yesterday, revealing its release date, cover stars, and new and returning gameplay modes. Also announced was the SmackDown! 20th Anniversary Edition contents, as well as the standard and deluxe editions.

In the official statement, 2K Games explained that Visual Concepts has been working alongside Yuke’s since 2014 and they have plenty of faith in the new direction for the games. “WWE 2K20 will be developed by Visual Concepts, who have worked with Yuke’s on the development of the series since WWE 2K14,” the statement read, “As we’ve continued to invest in the WWE 2K franchise, we’ve seen the Visual Concepts team display incredible passion, talent and commitment to the future of the series. We thank Yuke’s for their years of partnership and are excited to see what the Visual Concepts team brings to the franchise moving forward.

WWE 2k20 launches on October 22, 2019 and it will launch on Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. For more information head to the official WWE 2K website.
