World of Tanks: Mercenaries expansion coming exclusively to PS4 and Xbox One

Wargaming has announced the biggest expansion to date for World of Tanks on consoles, World of Tanks: Mercenaries. Launching as part of Update 4.5 on 26 June, Mercenaries brings a complete revamp to the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a new storyline, mode, vehicles, maps and more.

A new Mercenaries ‘nation’ with unique vehicles will be added with the update, with its own backstory from an alternate reality where endless wars have left the world fractured and soldiers and civilians to fight for themselves. These new characters have vehicles tailored to their needs, scavenged from vehicles of different nations and remixed into something new, with five of these new vehicles available at launch, and more to come as the game grows.

In a new PvE campaign called ‘The Heist”, this story will be fleshed out, with “an action-packed tale of espionage, nuclear tensions, and adrenaline-fueled tank battles, this adventure follows a motley crew of Mercenaries contracted to set up, execute, and escape from a raid on a secret facility. Their mission is to steal nuclear material for a client who harbours his own atomic ambitions, but the crew soon find themselves at the mercy of the combined powers of the United States and the Soviet Union. Players can tackle this story alone (like a true Mercenary), or band together with a friend for co-operative online multiplayer action.”

Alongside the campaign, new revamped fan-favourite maps in Multiplayer will be available, ravaged by war and time.
