Will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Be Available to Purchase Separately After All?

Despite Activision adamantly stating that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will only be available to players who have purchased the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, a recent interview with Raven director David Pellas, who are handling the remaster, may hint otherwise.

During an interview where he confirmed that Modern Warfare Remastered will be receiving all 16 original maps, Pellas phrased his response in a manner that would suggest that plans are on the table to eventually release the remastered version of the fan favourite game once sales of the most current instalment begin to taper off.

Pellas stated “What we announced before today was that we were going to offer ten maps on launch, and that’s still true. The announcement today is that the six remaining maps we are actually going to be delivering to anyone who purchases Modern Warfare Remastered, anyone who owns it or a version of Infinite Warfare that comes with it, they’re going to get all sixteen of the maps for no additional cost.”

The clear distinction made between those who may have purchased the game via Infinite Warfare and those who own the game separately suggests that, at some point, the title will somehow be available through other means, although this will likely be more than a few months after its initial release.

Activision have come out to once again categorically state that players will ONLY be able to get Modern Warfare Remastered bundled along with Infinite Warfare but Pellas’ statement seems like it’s something more than a slip of the tongue or a simple brain fart and you’d expect Activision to stick by this line of marketing for the time being, as to suddenly change Modern Warfare Remastered’s proposed release strategy would more than likely have a negative impact on the sales for the latest iteration of the franchise.

What do you think? Would you be willing to hold off for a few months if it meant that you could get Modern Warfare Remastered without having to pick up Infinite Warfare? Or are you just as pumped for Activision taking the fight to the skies and can’t wait for both titles?
