We’re getting our first Nintendo Direct in 17 Months Tomorrow

February 17, 2021

It’s been a long, long time since we’ve had Nintendo release a full Nintendo Direct. Almost 17 months in fact, with the last full Nintendo Direct dropping in September 2019. Since then the COVID pandemic hit, game releases slowed down and the big event-scale Nintendo Direct became a figment of our imagination. Now, we finally have time to get hyped again.

Alongisde the announcement of the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo also confirmed a few of the details about the show as well in their announcement tweet. One of those details is that it will run for about 50 minutes, which means this will be a rather long Nintendo Direct. It points to the possibility of at least one big, marquee game and plenty of other announcements.

Another detail is that the show will focus on updates to existing games like Super Smash Bros Ultimate, alongside new game announcements for the first half of 2021. So expect plenty of DLC and updates to existing games, as well as new game announcements. We personally expect the next fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate and potentially more DLC for games like Fire Emblem Three Houses.

The Nintendo Direct kicks off at 9:00 AM AEDT tomorrow, which is the perfect time for many of us to jump into Nintendo’s YouTube Channel to watch it.
