Ubisoft Reveals Assassin’s Creed Valhalla River Raids Update

Valhalla River Raids

UBISOFT has today revealed the new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla River Raids update which is available for immediate download, bringing fresh content to the huge map of England, and a reason to return to your viking way of life.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla River Raids is a permanent addition to the game, with the new raiding system becoming replayable and giving you better rewards for your efforts. Higher-stake raids means you’ll have to be careful when your crew fall in battle because if you don’t revive them they will be lost forever. Your all-new Jomsviking crew will now be upgradble as you progress with your raids in a new three-tier system.

The update will also introduce two new buildings for your settlement Ravensthorpe including an upgradable Jomsviking Hall and a purpose-built River Raid Dock. Check out a sneak peek in this new screenshot:

The new Longship will also be customisable and upgradable, apparently allowing you to carry more loot back from your raids (though this was never an issue with the inventory system in the base game).

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the update brings new abilities and rewards:

  • The Saint George Armor set and Great Sword
  • 3 new Abilities, hidden in monasteries
  • A new set of longship and player cosmetics

This will be the final part of the Yule Season free DLC ahead of Season 2 of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla which will be called Ostara and will begin next month. Ostara is the Germanic Goddess of spring and dawn that pagan Anglo-Saxons held festivals for. Expect something like the Yule Festival we had over the summer break, except spread throughout all of England! Season 2 promises to build on Valhalla’s core combat experiences and provide new gear and cosmetic items.

Lastly, Ubisoft Montreal is still busy at work on the first major expansion Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Wrath of the Druids which will take Eivor to Ireland. The expansion is set to launch in Q3 and we’ll have more information on it soon.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. For more information, head to the official Assassin’s Creed website.
