Yesterday’s Summer Game Fest Kick-Off had plenty of announcements throughout its 100ish minute length, but there was only one game that was preambled by the one and only Jeff Goldblum. Rumoured and speculated on for quite a while, it was officially announced that Jurassic World Evolution 2, a sequel to the 2018 park builder, is in development from Frontier Developments.

Where Jurassic World Evolution 2 will differ from its predecessor is in its widening of the barriers you previously had. Instead of being stuck to the Muertes Achipelago, you’ll now be able to build in new locations. Each location will include new terrain and challenges, with new biomes like dense forests and scorched deserts. The game will also include more than 75 prehistoric species, with flying and marine reptiles making their debut alongside a number of community-favourite dinosaurs. They’ve also enhanced the dinosaurs with new behaviours to make them feel more alive in the park you create.

The game’s Campaign mode is set immediately following the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and covers a wholly original Jurassic World story. Filled with iconic characters from the films, including Jeff Goldblum voicing Dr. Ian Malcom and Bryce Dallas Howard voicing Claire Dearing, you’ll come across plenty of familiar faces through the game. There are also Sandbox and Challenge Modes, while the Chaos Theory mode include re-imagined takes on moments from the Jurassic World franchise.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 launches on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in late 2021. For more information, check the official website.
