The Last Guardian is a game about love, friendship and unlikely companionship. From Japan Studio comes a story of comradeship, trust and adventures in a strange, mystical land. When a young boy meets a colossal, mysterious creature named Trico, the pair form an unbreakable bond that helps them survive amongst the crumbling ruins and dangers that surround them.

By working together, the unlikely pair must communicate with one another to overcome obstacles and uncover the secrets of their fantasy world and ultimately survive their journey.

The Last Guardian, originally announced at E3 2009 as a Playstation 3 title, has been in development since 2007 and is the spiritual successor to the much loved Shadow of the Colossus and Ico games. Amid departures from Team Ico and hardware difficulties, the developers were forced to transition The Last Guardian to Playstation 4. After one final delay announced in September this year, its current scheduled release date of December 7th 2016 now looks almost definite.

A Playstation 4 exclusive, The Last Guardian was an award winner at E3 2016. Check out the E3 2016 The Last Guardian trailer below:

Update: The president of Worldwide Studios at Sony Interactive Shuhei Yoshida has just made an official tweet to state The Last Guardian has indeed gone gold, and it looks like this tweet is sticking around for the long haul.
