thatgamecompany to branch beyond the PlayStation 3

February 28, 2012

Best known for their visually unique and thematically different game design, thatgamecompany, the minds behind flOw and Flower, will be soon ending their three game contract with Sony, with intentions of exploring new video gaming horizons.

Reported by Eurogamer, thatgamecompany entered a three title agreement with Sony several years ago, of which produced flOw, Flower, and the upcoming PlayStation Network title Journey. Though the contract would be open for renewal, lead designer and head of thatgamecompany, Jenova Chen, stated future company goals to “bring our games to a bigger audience, beyond just PlayStation”.

Exactly which platforms thatgamecompany is interested in perusing remains unknown, as Chen was tight lipped about post-Journey releases, though “hoped” to announce whatever it is “soon”.

Journey is on track for a release via the PlayStation Network on PlayStation 3 mid March.
