Super Mario Odyssey and more announced for Nintendo at E3

May 12, 2017

Today, Nintendo revealed its plans for E3 2017, and as expected there’ll be a huge focus on the upcoming Switch blockbuster, Super Mario Odyssey.

Before E3 begins, Nintendo will once again broadcast its Nintendo Spotlight presentation for the show, available at the Nintendo E3 2017 website. The presentation will kick off on Wednesday 14th June at 2 AM AEST, offering details on Switch titles including Super Mario Odyssey, focusing on games launching this year. Immediately following the Spotlight presentation, Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3 will begin, the traditional livestreamed showcase of the Nintendo’s content from the showfloor. Gameplay from all featured games will be available on Nintendo’s Twitch channels.

Super Mario Odyssey will headline the actual E3 event, providing attendees (including the general public, who can buy tickets to E3 for the first time) with the first hands-on opportunity to play the game.

In addition, reminiscent of E3 2014 where Nintendo hosted a Smash Bros Invitational tournament, Nintendo will also host this year two game tournaments, livestreamed from the showfloor. The 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational will be streamed on 13th June, including four pre-qualified squads from Europe, USA, Japan and the recent-winners of the Splatoon AUNZ Grand Final. In addition, the 2017 ARMS Open Invitational will be streamed on 14th June, of course focused on Nintendo’s upcoming Switch title, ARMS.

We’ll be attending E3 2017 with coverage from the showfloor, so look out for all the latest from us in June!
