Summer Game Fest Kick-Off

It feels like it’s been forever, but E3 2021 and Summer Game Fest are both official here, with the Summer Game Fest Kick-Off show beginning festivities for the next week. As always, Geoff Keighley is promising a massive slate of game announcements and updates. With 30+ games confirmed to be shown during the Summer Game Fest Kick-Off, there was plenty shown off during the show over its roughly 90 minute run time, but not everyone has the time to watch that, especially at 4AM in the morning.

For those that didn’t want to get up in the wee hours of the morning, here’s our Sumer Game Fest Kick-Off wrap up:

  • The show kicked off with the announcement of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands from Gearbox and 2K Games. The game is unlinked to Borderlands and is a high fantasy take on the Looter Shooter genre. Coming in early 2022.

  • Second cab off the rank was the announcement of Metal Slug Tactics, a new tactical RPG take on the series. Looked very similar to a Gameboy Advance game in style.

  • Next up was Hideo Kojima, who revealed that he’s working on his next game and that he’s changed up his approach this time around. Then a trailer kicked in for Death Stranding Director’s cut, a PlayStation 5 version of Death Stranding, theoretically with additional content. More will be revealed in a few weeks.

  • Then it was on to Jeff Goldblum, to reveal the world premiere trailer for Jurassic World Evolution 2, a sequel to the 2019 park management game. The game is releasing sometime this year.

  • Lost Ark, an action RPG from Smilegate was then confirmed to be coming to the West with Amazon Games listed as the Western publisher. The game is a Daibloiesque isometric action RPG and is coming this year.

  • Then it was on to some Call of Duty news, with the reveal of Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4. There’s new weapons, new operators and more coming to the game, with a world premiere trailer showing some of it off.

  • Next up was details on what’s coming to Among Us in the future. New roles to play, new character colours, new kill animations, a new map and more.

  • Now the one and only Shuhei Yoshida, now the head of the PlayStation Indie program is on screen to reveal Salt & Sacrifice, a new game from the developers of Salt & Sanctuary. Coming in 2022.

  • Then we got a new trailer for Solar Ash from Annapruna Interactive and Heart Machine, giving us another look at the Hyperlight Drifter developer’s next game.

  • Then we got the launch trailer for Chivlary 2, which is out now for those that are looking for some first-person action.

  • Next up was a very short teaser for the next Agent coming to Riot Game’s shooter It was literally a couple of seconds of a helmet.

  • Then it was on to Escape from Tarkov, with a look at the next area coming to the game – the streets of Tarkov.

  • Next up was the previously leaked Two Point Campus, the next simulation game from Two Point Studios. Gone are the hospitals of Two Point Hospital, replaced with building the University campus of your dreams. Coming next year for every platform.

  • Then it was on to another ongoing game, with the reveal of another collaboration coming to This time it’s Stranger Things, with a number of skins coming to the game and an Upside Down arena map coming as well.

  • Now it was time for the reveal of a brand new publishing game label Prime Matter, with a sizzle reel showing off their initial slate of games, including Payday 3 and the confirmation that a new Painkiller game is coming.

  • After that it was time for a world premiere of a new IP from a new developer. The Anacrusis is a new co-op shooter coming to PC and Xbox in the future.

  • Looking for Rocket League and The Fast and the Furious? Well, you’re in luck, because Rocket League is teaming up with the franchise for a new collab with Fast 9 on June 17.

  • Then it was on the something a little different, with a trailer for Shark Mob’s Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodhunt.

  • Next up was a new story trailer of Supermassive’s The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, which we recently took a look at. The new trailer gave us our first glimpse of the monsters in the game.

  • For RPG lovers out there, next we got another look at Tales of Arise, the next game in the long running Tales The trailer gave us a look at some more characters and party member you’ll meet during the game.

  • It was straight into another trailer, with the confirmation that the Nintendo Switch version of Sky: Children of the Light from Thatgamecompany releases on June 29th.

  • Next was another debut game, with the reveal of Planet of Lana from a new indie developer named Wishfully which is coming in 2022.

  • Now is on to Overwatch 2, with new skins shown off for Baptise and Sombra.

  • Next up was a small look at Geoff Keighley playing Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Arisen with Hannibal Buress and Ember Moon.

  • Now it’s Capcom’s turn, with a new story trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin giving us more of an understanding of just what is happening in the game.

  • Then it was time for an extended look at Endless Dungeon from SEGA and Amplitude.

  • Next up was a new costume coming to Fall Guys, with a 2B skin confirmed to come to the game on June 18.

  • Next was the announcement of new studio Deviation Games founded by ex-Activision developers who left the studio last year. It was also confirmed that the studio is developing a new IP that is being publisher by PlayStation.
  • Then we got a teaser for a boss coming to Warner Bros. Interactive’s Back 4 Blood, along with details on when we can expect a beta for the game.

  • Now it’s time for Tunic, with confirmation of a new demo coming for the game in the very near future.
  • Then we moved on to a new trailer for Tribes of Midgard, which is coming to PC and PlayStation on July 27.

  • Next up was an extended gameplay look at Evil Dead: The Game from Saber Interactive, which confirmed you can play as the Kandarian Demon to attempt to eliminate the team of heroes.

  • Finally, we’ve rolled up to the end of the show with the world premiere trailer for none other than Elden Ring. That’s right, finally, after plenty of waiting, we finally got a new look at the next game from From Software. The game releases on January 21, 2022.
