Star Wars: Squadrons Revealed

June 16, 2020

After multiple leaks over the past few months, EA finally announced last week that they would reveal their latest games in the Star Wars franchise this week, prior to EA Play. True to their word, EA released their reveal trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons overnight. We still haven’t seen gameplay yet, due to the reveal being a cinematic in-engine trailer, but it was enough to give us an idea of what to expect from the game.

Developed by EA Motive (the section of EAone  headed by former Assassin’s Creed alum Jade Raymond) Star Wars: Squadrons looks to be the space shooter you’ve hoped EA would make ever since they took on the Star Wars license. The game will feature ship customisation, fleet battles and a single player campaign putting the New Republic against the New Empire. Best of all, the game will join Need for Speed Heat by supporting cross play as part of EA’s new cross play initiative. It will also support VR headsets on PC and PlayStation 4.

Star Wars: Squadrons releases for PC (Epic Games Store, Origin and Steam), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2. Stay tuned on Friday when we will get our first look at gameplay as part of EA Play. Rocket Chainsaw will have a summary of all the news up after the show concludes.
