July 7, 2017

While most of us were tucked away in our beds, Nintendo was awake and showing off more information about Splatoon 2 during the Squid Research Lab’s Splatoon 2 Direct.

If you were a fan of Splatoon’s Splatfest events, which entailed choosing a team and playing matches to score points for said team, then you’re in for some luck with Splatoon 2′s first Splatfest. In fact, you don’t even need to own the game, as the Splatfest will come in the form of a demo you can download now ahead of the July 16 Splatfest date. So not only will you be able to play Splatoon 2 ahead of release, you’ll be able to take part in a cool event.

This latest Splatfest introduces two new characters to the fold, Pearl and Marina, who will be your hosts in this and future Splatfests. This time around, you’ll be competing to prove whether cake or ice cream are better, so get ready to compete from 8:00 AM AEST to 12:00 PM AEST on July 16.

Splatoon 2 launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on July 21.
