Spider-Man Release Date Finally Revealed

April 5, 2018

We’ve been begging for it since it was originally teased in 2016, and now Insomniac Games has finally revealed the Spider-Man release date. The game had its first gameplay trailer revealed at E3 2017, which you can check out here.

Insomniac Games is known for making some beautiful sandbox games, such as Sunset Overdrive and the Ratchet & Clank series. A PlayStation-4 exclusive, Sony’s Spider-Man will launch on September 7, 2018.

Along with the release date comes a plethora of information which we’ll attempt to cover below, but for now check out the new official 30 second Spider-Man release date pre-order video below:

Firstly, the different editions were revealed. Pre-ordering Spider-Man will grant you some bonus costumes. There is also a Digital Deluxe and a Collector’s Edition you can get your hands on, which will include even more costumes as well as other bonuses such as a figurine and art book.

We’ve also got three absolutely stellar in-game screenshots of Spider-Man running on the PlayStation 4 Pro, which you can see here:

We have also learned that Yuri Lowenthal is the man behind the mask in Spider-Man, seen here officially revealing the details via his Twitter account:

Yuri Lowenthal has worked with Insomniac Games in the past, and is also known for his work in the Persona franchise, Prince of Persia, and The Order 1886.

Spider-Man will run at 30 frames per second on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro, and will not include any micro-transactions. Mary Jane, Spider-Man’s love interest, will also be a playable character at certain points throughout the game, and it was also revealed that fast-travel will not be a simple map selection, but you will need to use New York’s subway system to quickly get around town (why not just swing?). We can also confirm that you can expect to see outposts in Spider-Man, and clearing outposts will work towards your game completion and making Manhattan a safer place.

Spider-Man will launch exclusively on Sony’s PlayStation 4 console on September 7th, 2018. We’ll have all the latest information right here at Rocket Chainsaw as it comes in. For more information head to the official website here.
