Sony Delay

Amidst the rising tensions in the USA after the murder of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, Sony has announced that they will delay the PlayStation 5 games showcase scheduled for later this week. The announcement came via Twitter, with the official PlayStation account confirming that they do not feel that now is a time for celebration and that they want to give more important voices a chance to be heard.

The confirmations come after Sony tweeted out their support of the Black Lives Matter movement (A movement I will personally go on record as supporting), using their platform to retweet resources shared by their followers. There’s always some worry around large corporations using catastrophe as a way to gain goodwill towards themselves, but Sony seems to be going above and beyond the normal actions taken by most large corporations in this instance.

While we don’t have a new date for the PlayStation 5 games showcase as yet after the delay, we’re sure an announcement will come in due course once the time is appropriate.
