E3 2016: Sony confirms PlayStation 4K, won’t make E3 appearance

June 11, 2016

Following online reports from various media outlets, Sony has finally confirmed the existence of the PlayStation 4K console.

Speaking to the Financial Times (via Eurogamer), PlayStation boss Andrew House confirmed that Sony are working on a “high-end PS4” that will support 4K content. Sony will not be unveiling the system at E3 this year, and it’s currently unknown when it will launch and how much it will retail for.

It has been suggested that software support will begin in Q3 this year, which coincidentally lines up with the PlayStation VR launch. The PS4K will cost more than the current PS4 console and Sony “will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle”, House stated.
