Shared Story multiplayer mode revealed for The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan

August 7, 2019

Bandai Namco has revealed the soon to be released The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan will feature a Shared Story multiplayer mode.

The mode allows two players to play the game simultaneously online. Each player will experience the story as different characters, often branching to separate scenes and then coming together to make mutual decisions about what they do next. In a developer diary, which we have embedded below, an example is shown of one character remaining on a boat while another dives and explores the ocean around them. Developer Supermassive Games also discuss the technical and narrative challenges in bringing the mode to the final game.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is an interactive horror adventure game that sees players assume the control of five characters who find themselves stuck on a cursed ghost ship along with its captain. The game is developed by Supermassive Games who previously worked on Until Dawn for the PS4.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is slated for release on 30 August this year on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
