August 20, 2021

Call of Duty: Vanguard has been formally announced, as another return of the series to the World War II era, scheduled for release on 5 November in Australia and New Zealand.

This time around, Vanguard is being billed as “the most connected Call of Duty experience across the franchise.” Developed by Sledgehammer Games, the campaign follows a multinational group of soldiers, Task Force One, during World War II, including pivotal WWII battles across four major theatres of war. The multiplayer casts players as the original ‘Special Forces’ operatives, with 20 multiplayer maps at launch including ’16 core multiplayer’, the return of Gunsmith, new custom ballistics and reactive environments. A ‘Champion Hill’ mode also featuers a series of tournament-style head-to-head matches.

Treyarch Studios are also contributing a new Zombies mode, which is intended as a crossover of Vanguard Zombies with Black Ops Cold War Zombies. Raven Studios are leading development as well on a new map for Warzone, the free-to-play Call of Duty game, coming later this year, which shares the same tech as Call of Duty: Vanguard  and will be updated with a calendar of post-launch content together with Vanguard.
