Scoring Legends On Show As NBA 2K22 Announced

July 15, 2021

COVID or no, the yearly franchises we have come to expect are still popping up. While other games have disappeared or been delayed, the yearly sports franchises such as NBA 2K21 are still coming out like reliable clockwork. With that said, some of them have definitely been announced a little later than normal, leaving us wondering when each one would pop up. We won’t be waiting any longer to 2K’s next instalment though, with the announcement of NBA 2K22.

Beyond the fact that the game is releasing on September 10th for every platform under the sun and is available for pre-order today, the announcement itself doesn’t really give us too much information to go on. Promising historic teams, heaps of hoops experiences, and best-in-class visuals and AI, 2K states that NBA 2K22 “puts the entire basketball universe in the player’s hands”.

What we do know for sure is the different editions, prices and cover athletes for the games. With all the details listed below:

  • The Standard Edition features Luka Dončić on the cover and will cost $89.95 on Nintendo Switch and PC, $99.95 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and $109.95 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • The Cross-Gen Digital Bundle will cost $124.95 and features both previous- and current-generation versions of the game within the same PlayStation and Xbox console families.
  • The NBA 7th Anniversary Edition features Dirk Nowitzki, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kevin Durant on the cover, with cover art by artist Charly Palmer, and will cost $149.95 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. This version of the game includes both previous and current-generation versions for PlayStation/ Xbox console families, while the Nintendo Switch version will only be available digitally.

Alongside the announcement, we also got two behind the scenes videos featuring the four cover artists talking about working with 2K Games, being the cover athletes for NBA 2K22, and also giving us a glimpse on what it takes to be included in the game.

NBA 2K22 releases for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on September 10. For more information, check the official website.
