Celebrate Rocket League’s 3rd Birthday with Free Items & More!

Rocket League's 3rd Birthday

Three years ago on July 7, 2015 Psyonix launched a game with a simple idea; football with cars that can turbo around. The game was actually first pitched as a sequel to a game called “Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars“! Little did they know that it would become an instant success, with millions of players worldwide and become a very competitive esports game. Join us in celebrating Rocket League’s 3rd birthday, as Psyonix is giving away free limited edition items.

Microsoft also announced via this month’s Inside Xbox video that Rocket League is now on the Xbox Game Pass, meaning you can play it for free with an active Xbox Game Pass subscription! Rocket League will also get Xbox One X Enhanced later this year, presumably meaning Xbox fans will get to enjoy the fast-paced aerial stunts game in both 4K and HDR.

During Rocket League’s 3rd Birthday event players will earn balloons for every game they complete. The balloons can then be used to purchase limited time items in the  Anniversary Rewards menu. There are seven defined items ranging from 30 points to 150 points, and there are also 10 Golden Eggs each worth 150 balloons that will unlock secret rare items.

Our pick of the bunch excluding anything you might get from the Golden Eggs is definitely the Psyonix wheels which look amazing and will add that extra bit of sass to any vehicle build.

There is also a special 3v3 Rocket League’s 3rd Birthday event which you’ll find in the casual menu. The event is an ice hockey style arena with the goals placed slightly forward, allowing players to race around the back and on top of the goals. It was hard to tell if you earn any extra balloons by playing in this game or not, but it seemed like ranked was still the way to go given you often don’t play a full five minutes if one team forfeits. The ball will also be slightly lighter in this arena.

Rocket League’s 3rd Birthday event will run until July 23, and just like the previous event you will not be able to spend your balloons when the event concludes.

Psyonix has built up Rocket League with plenty of on-going content, such as exclusive WWE items, and the Salty Shores summer update. While they haven’t specifically laid out the road map for the fourth year, they have stated that they will let us know more regularly of upcoming content throughout the year.

So finally, we’ll leave you with Rocket League’s 3rd Birthday Infographic, detailing a whole bunch of fun statistics:
