Rocket Chainsaw “Game of the Year” – Enter and Win!

December 21, 2012

The last twelve months have been very special at Rocket Chainsaw. Our humble launch in February was followed by months of top class coverage of the Australian game industry, and the medium we all love dearly. We’ve covered all the surprises and disappointments of E3 2012, ensured reviews and features of games across all platforms under the sun, and were sure to be there day one with the launch of new hardware like the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Wii U. As each day passes our average website hits increase, and our community grows larger.

And for that we offer our thanks. Without you guys and gals giving us support, we wouldn’t have a website at all.

To celebrate almost a year’s worth of Rocket Chainsaw, a year’s worth of video games, and a year’s worth of tremendous community support, we’re proud to announce a community driven Game of the Year initiative. With a prize!

Rather than have the staff handle the official Rocket Chainsaw Game of the Year, we’re opening up the voting by allowing submissions by our regular readers. Yep, we’re asking you what your favourite games of the year are. Even better, every single person who gives their two bob will go in the running to win a $50 JB Hi Fi giftcard. Fifty big ones to spend on whatever entertainment goody you desire.

Entering your game of the year is very simple. All you have to do is sign up to our forums and head over to this thread, then reply to the topic with your top five favourite games of the year. Your first choice, and thus your favourite game for the year, will be awarded five points. Your second game is given four points, your third one receives three, and so on. If you’d like, you can also accompany your list with comments, though these are not necessary to win. An example of how your entry form might look:

No. 1 (five points): XCOM: Enemy Unknown – A classic revived for a modern era. The best tactical combat strategy game going around, with addictive turn based gameplay, a great sense of character development, and endless satisfaction from turning ET into green goo.

No. 2 (four points): Just Dance 4 – I won’t ever stop dancing. Not until I die. In fact, if I don’t stop dancing, I’m pretty sure I will die. Just Dance 4 was made for people like me. Oppa Gangnam Style.

No. 3 (three points): The Unfinished Swan – This artistic masterpiece moved me to tears. I cry every time.

No. 4 (two points): Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two – Disney has done it again. A stunning follow up to their previous masterpiece, Epic Mickey. The Power of Two addresses the few issues with the original, growing the formula and experience beyond my wildest imagination.

No. 5 (one point): Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed – I love Senic the Speed Hog.

You’ll have until the end of the year (31st December 2012) to post your thoughts on the forum. Once the year is out, we’ll compile all the votes to announce Rocket Chainsaw’s official Game of the Year, and every entry will go into a random draw to win the $50 JB HiFi voucher. How easy is that?

If you’re anything like the Rocket Chainsaw staff, you’ll be digging deep into the ol’ think box to remember all the games released over this year. We advise checking out this amazing thread on Rocket Chainsaw’s own forums, as well as browsing over Wikipedia’s 2012 in Video Gaming article, which covers most of the games released between January 1st 2012 and December 31st 2012.

Remember, to enter all you have to do is head to our forums and post in the appropriate thread. We’ll contact the winner via private message, so be sure to check your account in the new year!

Good luck, and again, thank you all for the support.
