Rally Through the Ages with this new DiRT Rally 2.0 Trailer

As the release date draws nearer, Codemasters continue to show off glimpses of DiRT Rally 2.0, this time via a new trailer called Rally Through the Ages.

The new Rally Through the Ages trailer shows off more environments, crowd animations, as well as four rally cars featured in the game ranging from the 70’s to 1995. DiRT Rally 2.0 is looking better than ever, and promises huge improvements both visually and in gameplay, while sticking to the core rally feel that brought many fans back to the DiRT franchise in DiRT Rally.

If you start first on the road you’re going to suffer from a lot of loose gravel, which means you’ll struggle for traction – and that makes it hard to put in a flowing stage with a good stage time,’ said Codemasters’ Rally Consultant Jon Armstrong. ‘The optimal run time is probably around 5th – 10th place because you get that loose surface swept off, but it’s not too rough that it ruins your car or your rhythm’.

The further down the running order you are from there, the more the surface is going to plough and rut, so you need to adjust your driving style and even your vehicle setup to cope with the evolving track. Even though you can drive down the same stage a thousand times, these stages are going to present a different challenge every time.

The Alpine Renault A110 1600 S rallying through New Zealand represents the best of the 1960s, while the Ford Escort Mk II takes centre stage in Australia to showcase what the 1970s had to offer. The Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 racing through the tarmac streets of Spain epitomises the Group B power of the 1980s, and New England provides the perfect autumnal backdrop for Colin McRae’s SUBARU Impreza 1995.

Rocket Chainsaw has been following DiRT Rally 2.0 since its announcement back in September, which you can read about here.

Rocket Chainsaw reviewed DiRT 4 last year giving it 4 stars, calling it. “a solid rally racing game that attempts to appeal to all corners of the market.” The DiRT Rally games differentiate a bit from the main DiRT games however, and are tailered more towards a realistic rally experience, something many fans have appreciated.

Dirt Rally 2.0 launches on February 26, 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC platforms. For more information, check out the DiRT Rally 2.0announcement Codemasters blog here.
