Pokemon Sun and Moon are in for a massive day as they launch, with Dengeki Online (translation courtesy of Gematsu) reporting that the launch shipments of the games have now exceeded 10 million units. Not only is that the largest launch shipment for a Pokemon game on 3DS, it’s also the largest launch shipment for any game on 3DS.

With a launch shipment like that, it seems that Pokemon Sun and Moon bringing some change to the general Pokemon formula (like the removal of gyms) has helped reinvigorate the series. It will be interesting to see just how many copies of Pokemon Sun and Moon eventually sell.
