Pokémon Go Plus coming to Apple Watch

September 8, 2016

At its media event announcing the new iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 overnight, Apple revealed that Pokémon Go would be coming to the Apple Watch.

The watch app acts as a companion to the main phone game, alerting players when a Pokémon is nearby, and allowing them to interact with Pokéstops directly from the watch. The companion app also tracks steps, allowing players to hatch eggs without having to leave the app open on their phones. Players will still need to use the main app on their phone to catch Pokémon, however.

Called Pokémon Go Plus, the watch app will be available later this month.
