Playtonic tease next Yooka-Laylee update

May 3, 2017

Playtonic Games has posted a story on their website revealing that they’re hard at work on am update for Yooka-Laylee.

The update is being refereed to as a “spit ‘n’ polish”, and seems to be aimed towards speed runners. The update will include the ability to skip dialogue faster, bypass cutscenes and “reduce those pesky gibberish voices”. The camera is also going to be tweaked, and further general improvements will be made. Playtonic promised they will have a full breakdown of the update in the coming weeks and reiterated that a Nintendo Switch version was still on the way.

Yooka-Laylee was released on April 11 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC following a successful Kickstarter campaign and a two year development cycle. I praised the game in my review, saying it was a glorious return of the 3D platformer and captured the spirit of the Banjo-Kazooie games.
