Playstation 4 and Uncharted 4 Massive Holiday Sale Numbers Revealed

January 6, 2017

Sony has revealed that the PlayStation 4 has continued to go from strength to strength, with a massive 6.2 million PlayStation 4 consoles being sold throughout the Holiday period for a lifetime sales number of 53.4 million consoles. There’s no specific breakdown indicating what the split is between different PlayStation 4 consoles, but the number is likely largely filled with PlayStation 4 Pro consoles are their November release and PlayStation 4 Slim consoles after some discounting and bundling during December.

These consoles sales are also backed up by some great software sales numbers, with 50.4 million pieces of software being sold for the PlayStation 4 through the holiday period. This was helped along by Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which has now sold more than 8.7 million copies worldwide. This makes Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End the best selling Uncharted game to date, with Nathan Drake’s final outing being a massive hit with fans and critics alike, taking out our Game of the Year award for 2016.

2017 will be an interesting year for the PlayStation 4, with both the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Scorpio to launch during the year, but with a line up consisting of Horizon Zero Dawn, Knack 2 and potentially Insomniac’s Spiderman, Sony have put themselves in a great position to have another record breaking year.
