Photos from Transformers 40th Launch in Melbourne, More Screenings this Weekend

May 17, 2024

Transformers kicked off its 40th anniversary celebrations this week in Australia with VIP screenings of its cinema event, taking place in cinemas around the country this weekend. The VIP launch included an exhibit of Transformers’ Robosen series of robotic figures, which can actually transform themselves and perform a tonne of poses, along with collectibles contributed by locals fans. Attendees received a gift bag with a poster from the event, along with a random Transformer toy, and prizes were given for trivia answers and a best-dressed social post.

The screening itself is a collection of Transformers material, largely focusing on the original ‘Generation 1’ cartoon. It begins with the already-released trailer for the new Transformers One film hitting cinemas later this year, followed by a presentation of a clip from the upcoming season of Transformers: Earthspark. The real meat of the screening then begins, with a reunion of Transformers G1 actors including Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, alongside newer voice actors, collaborating to do perform a table read of the script for the very first episode of The Transformers -‘More than Meets the Eye – Part 1′. Their performance is shown synced alongside the original episode, and is accompanied by some behind-the-scenes material before and after the episode. This is then followed by the next three episodes, presented in their original format with the original audio. All of the old episodes are presented in their original aspect ratio, with a computer-themed frame around the footage and a lower-third over the footage indicating the episode.

If you still want to check out these screenings, tickets are available on the official website. You can check out some photos of the Melbourne VIP launch at Jam Factory, South Yarra, below.
