Only A Handful of PS4 Games Won’t Work on PS5

October 10, 2020

Beginning with an erroneous comment made by Mark Cerny about testing the top 100 PS4 games and their compatibility with PS5, the questions of backwards compatibility has hung over the head of PlayStation. Despite multiple comments stating that the ‘vast majority’ and ‘99%’ of PS4 games would run on your PS5 at launch, there was still some trepidation surrounding the backwards compatibility situation here. Now, PlayStation have finally clarified exactly what PS4 games won’t work on your PS5 at launch, and the list is absolutely tiny.

Overall, the comments of the ‘vat majority’ of PS4 games working at the launch of the next are absolutely true, with ten games not being supported. There’s no particularly big games here, in fact, at least one of the games (the utterly terrible Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma – Volume 1) isn’t even available for sale anymore. The full list of games that won’t be support via backwards compatibility on PS5 is below:

  • DWVR
  • Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
  • TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2
  • Just Deal With It!
  • Shadow Complex Remastered
  • Robinson: The Journey
  • We Sing
  • Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
  • Shadwen
  • Joe’s Diner

The PS5 releases on November 12th, 2020, assuming you were lucky enough to get a preorder.
