No new Skylanders console game for 2017

During a call for investors, Activision revealed that it would not be releasing a new Skylanders game on consoles this year, Polygon reports.

The news follows a decline in the toys-to-life market. Disney cancelled its Disney Infinity franchise in May last year, and Nintendo have also noted that Amiibo sales have been declining.

Skylanders Imaginators, which was released last year on PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360, is still slated for release on the Nintendo Switch in March this year. There’s also a mobile Skylanders game in development, however, it does not have a release date.
