Nintendo announce the New 2DS XL console and new 3DS Selects games

April 28, 2017

Nintendo has announced today they will be releasing an XL variation of the 2DS console.

The New 2DS XL system will be released in Australia on June 15, 2017 for a suggested retailed price of AU$199.99. Two colours will be available at launch – black/turquoise and white/orange.

Unlike the regular model, the New 2DS XL brings back the clamp shell design featured in the DS and 3DS console range. The screens are the same size as the 3DS XL, but will of course only display games in 2D. The system is also lighter than the 3DS XL, but includes built-in NFC functionality to connect to amiibos and is fully compatible with the entire 3DS, New 3DS and DS games library.

Additionally, Nintendo revealed Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Luigi’s Mansion 2, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros., and Paper Mario: Sticker Star will be joining the Nintendo Selects range from May 11; retailing for a cheaper suggested retail price of AU$29.99.
