Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Announced

September 20, 2020

Personally speaking, I’m still disappointed I missed out on Monster Hunter Stories. Arriving relatively late in the Nintendo 3DS lifespan, by the time I had convinced myself to try it out, I was already enamoured with my Switch and couldn’t bring myself to move back to my tiny 3DS screen. I held out hope for a port to Switch, but now Capcom have gone one better, revealing Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin alongside the announcement of Monster Hunter Rise.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin looks to continue the themes of the original game, as you once again take control of a young Monster Rider who befriends monsters instead of slaughtering them for parts. Not many details are really known about the game so far, but the reveal trailer shows off some relatively open environments that are filled with colour and Monster Hunter monsters. It looks like you will once again be befriending a Rathalos, while we got an a Ajanath during the trailer. It seems that you’ll be investigating why Rathalos have begun fleeing their natural environments, but we didn’t get any view on the game’s gameplay or a synopsis.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will arrive exclusively for Nintendo Switch in Winter 2021. For more information, check out the official website.
