Kojima keen for MGSV on PC, MGSV to be huge, Ground Zeroes censored in Japan

March 6, 2014

It’s no secret that Metal Gear Solid director and designer Hideo Kojima is proud of his series. So it’s not surprising that he’d like to see the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain be released on PC. Speaking with Gamestop, Kojima said “PC, that’s my original background. I originally created PC games. A long time ago I didn’t want to rely on platforms to release games, so if people want it, I cannot make a formal announcement, but that is definitely something that I would like to do”. Apparently MGSV will also be “too big to clear”, according to an interview Kojima had with IGN.

Speaking of which, Ground Zeroes looks like it will be censored in Japan, as reported by French website JeuxVideo. The website mentions in its impressions that one of the censored scenes in question will be a ‘gory and painful’ one, leading to speculation over whether it’s the surgery scene found in one of the game’s trailers. Apparently Kojima isn’t very happy about this, saying that the scene’s symbolic impact is similar to one from Metal Gear Solid 3.
