Metal Gear Survive revealed at Gamescom

August 17, 2016

Despite Hideo Kojima’s departure from the company, it seems that Konami still have plenty of plans for the Metal Gear franchise. IGN has revealed the latest title in the series: Metal Gear: Survive, for Xbox One, PS4 and PC release in 2017.

Utilising the FOX engine from Metal Gear Solid V, and set after the events of Ground Zeroes, the story of Metal Gear Survive involves MSF soldiers left behind on Big Boss’ offshore rig transported through time and space through wormholes to another dimension, fighting waves of crystalline zombies. You read that correctly.

The game is also a departure from the series usual genre – promising a 4-player co-op experience, with new weapons and potentially even an appearance by a Metal Gear. The trailer seems to indicate melee weapons and bows with hi-tech trick arrows will be featured.
