Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops Announced

August 31, 2012

During their 25th Anniversary event for the Metal Gear series, Konami announced that the series will be getting a new mobile entry. Called Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops, Kojima Productions is handling planning for the game. Planning only though, since GREE (one of Japan’s largest social gaming comapanies) will be handling the actual development. They’re developing the game internally, using the Unity Engine. Social Ops brings together the characters, stories and events of all the previous Metal Gear Solid games. A newly released poster for the game illustrates the concept:

Players will be able to form their own army of cards, which will be used to engage in battle. Social Ops will also feature Mother Base development aspects, much like 2010’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. GREE mentioned that a playble build of the game will be on display at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. They expect the game to be released sometime between Spring and Summer this year. The release platforms are currently unknown. For now, the first couple of screenshots have been released, you can feast your eyes on them below:
