Win $20,000 At Melbourne Esports Open This Weekend!

August 28, 2019

The Melbourne Esports Open this weekend at Melbourne Park is giving every Fortnite player the chance to win a share of $20,000 in a mega competition the likes of which have never been seen before in a weekend Esports event in Australia.

Fortnite will be the main game played at this year’s Melbourne Esports Open, however other games such as League of Legends and Overwatch will also be present. Last year saw 12,000 gamers attend the event.

ESL and TEG Live announced the news today that competitions across open and charity tournaments will have an increased prize pool, thanks to a contribution from Fortnite’s developer Epic Games.

The event takes place from August 31 to September 1, with the entire competition being broadcast live on Twitch.

The breakdown of prize money includes $15,000 being given away to winners of open competitions, while the other $5,000 is reserved for a Charity Showmatch on Saturday evening as gamers wind down after a long day of Esports action. The $5,000 will be donated to the winning players’ charity of choice.

Also announced is a special Fathers Day race event, where you can race together with your father or son for a chance to win a Melbourne Esports Open merch pack or JB Hifi gift cards. The racing experience uses the latest Logitech racing simulator setups, and will include Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorsport 7. Sign-ups are free, and Fathers Day races will take place on Sunday from 9AM until 3PM.
