Mafia: Definitive Edition Delayed, Gameplay Footage Coming Soon

July 8, 2020

It wasn’t all that long ago that Mafia: Definitive Edition was announced, with the remake of the first Mafia game met with excitement from fans of the game and series. There’s no doubt that expectations are high, although the somewhat lacklustre response to Mafia II: Definitive Edition may have soured some people’s excitement. With that said, we’ll be waiting a little while longer for the game, with the official Mafia Twitter account confirming that the game has been delayed until September.

Much like many other delays happening at the moment, the reason behind the delay is COVID-19 and the havoc the global pandemic has played on the world. With many developers shifting to work from home arrangements, more time is needed to get the game to an acceptable quality level. Nobody wants a compromised experience.

It’s not all bad news however, with confirmation that an extended gameplay trailer will go live next week. We don’t have an exact time on when it will go live, but it should release at some point on July 23. We’ll make sure to post the trailer up on Rocket Chainsaw once it’s available.

Mafia: Definitive Edition will now release on September 25th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
