April 16, 2021

Today was a big day for Resident Evil Village news, with Capcom running a special showcase for the game. There was plenty of gameplay footage shown, but it’s the other news that was potentially more exciting. Performance metrics, resolutions, limited time demos and more were confirmed. Check out all the details below.

After promising that there would be another Multiplatform demo releases for Resident Evil Village prior to launch, Capcom revealed that there are actually two demos coming in the next fortnight. Both of these demos are only available for short periods of time, and PlayStation gamers will get early access to them as well. From 10AM AEST to 6PM AEST on Sunday the 18th PS4/PS5 will get access to the Village demo, while from 10AM AEST to 6PM AEST on Sunday the 25th they’ll get access to the Castle demo. Both of these demos are short 30 minute demos. All PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S gamers will have access to a combined demo from 10AM AEST to 6PM AEST on Sunday May 2nd.

On top of the demo news, we also got confirmation of Residenr Evil Village’s targetted resolutions and frame rates on consoles. The stand out here is the unusual use of 45fps modes on next-gen systems, which points to uncapped frame rates being used with raytracing on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and on the performance mode on Xbox Series S. All the different details on the performance modes can be seen in the image below:
