The Legend of Zelda Wii U delayed to 2017, plus NX

April 27, 2016

Sorry The Legend of Zelda fans, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer for Link’s (or Linkette’s, if rumours are to be believed) latest outing. Nintendo has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U, of which we’ve seen oh-so-little, has been pushed into an early 2017 release date. Nintendo is citing “quality” reasons, aka delay to make the game better, and while that might be true we’re also sure the delay is also in part to a finally confirmed Nintendo NX release.

Yes, like Twilight Princess before it, The Legend of Zelda for Wii U is now also for NX, crossing the hardware generation in some form. Given the NX is now set for a March 2017 line-up, we’re thinking just like Twilight Princess this will be a big launch title.

While you wait, please enjoy this fresh, new, and completely official art of Link in the new The Legend of Zelda.
