Square Enix have announced a brand new Kingdom Hearts remaster for PlayStation 4 during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show keynote.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will include Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD, finally answering fans questions about when this would be remastered, as well as two brand new chapters in the Kingdom Hearts franchise and will release in 2016.

Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage- is a brand new playable episode shown from the perspective of Aqua. It will link to the story of Kingdom Hearts 3 and also continues Square Enix’s penchant for overly complicated names.

Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover is a new movie that will tell the story of the Forerunners and link the earliest parts of the Kingdom Hearts timeline.

The announcement trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will debut on the Kingdom Hearts youtube channel on September 17th, so stay tuned for updates right here on Rocket Chainsaw!
